HULL – Superintendent Judith Kuehn is pleased to announce that the Hull Public Schools has appointed a new Director of Curriculum and Assessment for grades pre-K-12, as well as a new Principal for Jacobs Elementary School.

Christine Cappadona

Christine Cappadona has been appointed as the district's new Director of Curriculum and Assessment for grades pre-K-12, having been promoted from her role as Principal of Jacob’s Elementary School.

Mrs. Cappadona has spent 22 years in various roles within the Hull Public Schools. In 2000, she began her career in Hull as a fourth grade teacher at Jacobs School and was later promoted to Assistant Principal of Jacobs School. In 2015 she was promoted to Principal.

During her seven years as principal, Mrs. Cappadona proved that she was committed to collaborating with teachers, families and community partners to support the education of all students. She was responsible for supervising and evaluating approximately 60 staff members and 385 students in grades pre-K-5.

In her new role, Mrs. Cappadona will serve as an instructional leader who will support the district’s initiatives in all three schools and enable all students to achieve their fullest potential. She will develop staff training around current state Curriculum Frameworks, analyze student data and facilitate data meetings. She will also collaborate on appropriate instructional shifts to target student growth and develop school-wide intervention and enrichment programs for students.

“I have seen tremendous growth in the Hull Public Schools over my 22 years and look forward to building on the strong foundation our staff and administrators have worked hard to implement across the district,” Mrs. Cappadona said. “I am excited to serve as an instructional leader supporting the district’s initiatives at all three schools, collaborating with staff across the district, and providing leadership to ensure equity for all students to achieve their fullest potential.”

Mrs. Cappadona holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Managerial Accounting from Regis University and a master’s degree in Elementary Education from Fairfield University. She has also earned Administrative Licensure from the SSEC Principal Licensure Program, Massachusetts Assistant Superintendent/Superintendent Certification, Massachusetts Principal Certification and Massachusetts Teacher Certification.

Kyle Shaw

Formerly the Jacobs Elementary School Assistant Principal, Kyle Shaw will be replacing Cappadona as the new Jacobs School Principal.

As Assistant Principal, Mr. Shaw assisted in the supervision, direction and evaluation of staff, and led various staff meetings in collaboration with the principal. He also planned and presented monthly school-wide assemblies aligned with the school's core values and coordinated various school-wide events. He increased student attendance through the development and implementation of innovative strategies, and worked as the Supervisor of Attendance and the Sexual Harassment Grievance Officer.

Mr. Shaw has been working in the Hull Public Schools since 2008 when he began teaching physical education at the Jacobs School. Additionally, he is the owner, founder, and director of the first surf camp in Massachusetts: South Shore Surf Camp.

“It is my sincere pleasure to be able to continue my work at Jacobs Elementary in my new role as principal,” Mr. Shaw said. “I’m so lucky to have been able to observe Christine Cappadona as principal and I am excited to take what I have learned into my new role and continue to serve the students, families in the Jacobs community.”

Mr. Shaw holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Salve Regina University, a Master in Elementary Education from Lesley University, and completed the Graduate Education Leadership program at Curry College. Additionally, he has earned certifications in Elementary Education, Physical Education and Administration.

The Hull Public Schools celebrates both appointments as an example of existing staff members who are able to take the next steps in their careers and continue to maintain their devotion to the students, educators, staff and families of the Hull community.

“We are so excited for Mrs. Cappadonna and Mr. Shaw to start their new positions within the Hull Public Schools,” Superintendent Kuehn said. “Appointing them to their positions supports the district’s goal to employ and retain personnel who are motivated, always strive for excellence and are committed to providing a better educational environment for all our students.”
