HULL -- Superintendent Judith Kuehn and Principal Kyle Shaw are pleased to announce that the Lillian M. Jacobs School has undergone renovations to improve both indoor and outdoor spaces for students.

Since the beginning of the school year, students and staff have been enjoying newly renovated indoor and outdoor space at the Jacobs School.

Funding for these renovations was allocated as part of the school budget, with support from funds raised during events held throughout the 2022-2023 school year.

Indoor Renovations

As part of the ongoing renovations at the Lillian M. Jacobs School, sixth-grade students now have access to more than 500 new library books, adjustable module desks located in sixth-grade classrooms, and a newly renovated collaborative space for students to study and complete assignments.

In addition to these changes, the fifth-grade band has begun practicing for upcoming spring concerts under the direction of Mr. Taylor, following a multi-year hiatus of the program, when it was discontinued in 2010.

Outdoor Renovations

As part of the newly renovated outdoor space at the Jacobs School, monkey bars and monkey bar rings were installed to help students develop strength, coordination and dexterity.

Students have also been enjoying a newly renovated four-square space, an embankment slide, and a new GaGa Ball Pit, which incorporates agility, dodging and jumping to develop students' motor abilities and sportsmanship skills.

Eight outdoor picnic tables have also been added to the outdoor space for sixth-grade students to comfortably socialize during their morning snack period.

Additionally, the school buddy bench, which promotes an inclusive school community by encouraging all students to have a buddy during recess, is now equipped with a large umbrella to provide shade to students during recess.

“The 2023-2024 school year has been off to a great start with both students and staff enjoying our newly renovated indoor and outdoor spaces,” said Principal Shaw.“It has been great to see our students utilize these new amenities and maximize their recess experience.”
