Mrs. Tirrell - Special Education

Room C226
WELCOME TO SPECIAL EDUCATION AT THE
L.M. JACOBS SCHOOL

Within our community, we recognize that each child is unique and that parents are experts in their own right about their children. We endeavor to increase the awareness of students, parents, staff and the community to the supports and services available to students with disabilities.

Our goal is to provide each student with a free, appropriate education allowing each to achieve his or her highest educational potential through access to the general education curriculum (Massachusetts Frameworks).  The Individuals with Disabilities Act of 1997 (IDEA) provides safeguards and guarantees the educational rights of students with disabilities.

The special education staff, through evaluation and direct support, focus on the individual needs of each student, stressing personal attributes and strengths rather than disabilities. We are committed to include students within the general education program and providing supports within the “least restrictive environment”. Hull is an inclusive community.

Welcome!                                                                      pic

The new school year is well under way and I'm very excited to work with your children! I will be working with children in fourth and fifth grade this year in their inclusion classrooms as well as providing specialized reading instruction as a pull-out model.

Please contact me here at The Jacobs School anytime to discuss your child's growth or any concerns that you may have.

Sincerely,
Gemma Tirrell
