Ms. Moran - Reading Specialist
In addition to daily instruction, it is critical that your child practice reading text which has the phonics skills that students are practicing in class. At times we will be sending these books home. It is important that students read these books to help facilitate their growth as readers. Your child is expected to bring these books back the next day. Also, all grade one students participate in the home reading program called Wonderfully Excited Books (WEB). Weekly, students will select home reading books from the WEB library cart. There is more detailed information on our WEB Reading Program link above on the left side.
With students who have mastered the code and are independently reading, our focus will be more fully on comprehension, oral and written.
Old Colony Library Network - This site allows you to borrow books from 29 member libraries on the south shore and pick them up at the town library in Hull. All you need is a Hull library card. You might want to ask your child what they would like to read about or they may have a favorite author that you can search their database for. They also have a whole collection of e-books so if your child has a Kindle or Nook, you can borrow books for the device, as well. This is a quick and easy way to obtain books, allowing you to fit it in a busy family schedule.
Thank you for participating in this home-school reading partnership.
Please contact me if you have any questions or comments.
