Principal’s Newsletter – January 2021

Hello Hull High School Students and Families,

Happy 2021!  This past year has had unbelievable challenges, but we are full of hope as we move forward into the New Year ahead.

Speaking of new beginnings, we have a new teacher in our English Department!  As many of you are aware, one of our English Teachers, Mr. Marshall, accepted an assistant principal position in Maine and finished up at Hull High School right before the vacation week.  We are fortunate that Ms. Julia Vasconcelos will be joining our English Department beginning this week.  Ms. Vasconcelos comes to us with teaching experience in Taunton and Fall River, and we are excited to welcome her to the Hull High School family.

There will be no school on Monday, January 18th due to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and no school on Wednesday, January 20th due to staff professional development.

Grades close for term 2 on January 29th.  Progress reports for term 2 were posted on the Aspen portal the day before the winter break, so if you haven’t had a chance please view your child’s progress report.

As we approach the mid-point in the school year, it is vital that students remain on-track to successfully pass their classes and work toward accumulating credits toward graduation.  The hybrid model has allowed us to offer in-person instruction two days a week with the rest being remote, but this has understandably been challenging for some students.  If your child is struggling in any class, please reach out to the teacher directly or to your child’s guidance counselor so we can offer support.

Hull High School has been extremely fortunate that we have been able to maintain our partially in-person hybrid model for the past four months.  This is due in large part to students and staff cooperating with one another and living by our daily motto, “Pirates Protect Each Other”.

With that being said, students who have traveled out of state should review and abide by the Massachusetts travel orders and should be aware of the quarantine requirements involved with such travel.

Please contact your child’s school nurse if your child traveled out of state over the winter break or if you have any questions on the quarantine requirements.   Please also contact the school nurse if your child is exhibiting any symptoms which may be related to COVID-19. Mrs. Roach may be reached at 781-925-3000 or by email: TRoach@town.hull.ma.us.

We look forward to school resuming tomorrow, and I wish you all a safe and healthy start to the New Year.

Sincerely,

Nicole Nosek
