Principal’s Newsletter – March 2021

Dear Hull High School Students and Families:

As we enter March and the seasons (hopefully) start to change and spring begins with some warmer and brighter days, here are some of the events and some news happening at Hull High School this month.

We have early release days scheduled for the first two Wednesdays in March (3rd and 10th) with a dismissal time at 12:00 for students so staff is given the time to collaborate on professional development.  Mr. Mastrogiacomo has sent out the schedule for this Wednesday and will send out next Wednesday’s schedule as it gets closer.

Also on Wednesday, March 3rd at 7:00pm our guidance counselors will be hosting Hull High School’s Virtual AP Curriculum Night.  This event is designed for sophomores/juniors and their parents who might be considering Advanced Placement classes for next year.  The guidance counselors will give an overview of what the AP program entails, and AP teachers and current AP students will also be on hand to provide information for students and families.  Guidance has sent out the link to join this meeting.

Course selection for next year will be taking place in the coming weeks.  During Advisory this week, elective choices will be discussed and the process will be reviewed with students.

March 5th is mid-term for term 3 and progress reports will be posted our Aspen portal on March 10th.  Please review your child’s progress report in order to ensure that they are making academic progress in their classes.  If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s grade, be sure to reach out to their guidance counselor or their teachers.

We welcome back all of our grade 9 students on March 8th.  Communication regarding the return of 9th graders to four day a week, in-person learning has previously been sent to freshmen families, and a reminder email of the details will be sent later in the week.  Administration and guidance counselors will be visiting all 9th grade classes this week to distribute updated student schedules and to discuss the plan for return.

The New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) Team will be visiting Hull High School on March 18th and 19th for our Collaborative Conference Visit.  This two-day visit is the first step toward our decennial visit in 2022 and will help us prepare for the accreditation process.  We welcome the NEASC team and look forward to showcasing all that Hull High has to offer!

On March 24th a group of our students who are involved in Student Council, PHI, or PRISM are attending a virtual event entitled, Connections Conference 2021: Listen, Learn, Act: Fighting for Justice in our schools and communities.  This is a yearly event hosted by Sutton High School, but our first time participating.  We are excited for a group of our students to be able to virtually attend this year.

Finally, we are so glad that our Fall II athletic season has begun!  It is absolutely wonderful seeing football players on the field, track athletes running around the building or out on our local streets, and the cheerleaders practicing.  We wish our Fall II athletes well as they embark on this special season.

Thank you, be well, and take care,

Nicole Nosek
