OT Coronovirus letter to be sent to parents

Hey all,

This is your child's occupational therapist waving to you from afar.  OT is best done with a great room with fun equipment to bounce on and swing on, but alas this can’t happen for a while.  I know that you want your child or children to continue to progress in their skills.  I will be sending you information on activities that you can do with your child to build up their sensory systems and build on their fine motor, visual motor, and core strength to help with learning.  I also will be sending some worksheets to try.  What is most important is that your kids spend a lot of time moving and playing off devices.  I know that limiting this time is quite the challenge and I don’t want you to think that all gaming time is bad.  Just try to limit how much.  The reason being, kids develop through play and activities like building with Legos and coloring and playing with board games and dolls.  The less time kids spend doing these things, the less developed their bodies will be.  Before I send anything out,  I want to make sure that I have the correct e-mails for your home, so please let me know if you get this letter and I will start sending out some therapy ideas.  Hopefully, this virus will run it’s course sooner than later.  Hang in there and wash your hands!
